I read somewhere that the motor pulley on an Atlas lathe has the same step sizes, but the bore is 5/8" because it was equipped with a 1/2HP motor with a bigger shaft, whereas the mill was equipped with a smaller 1/3HP motor with a 1/2" shaft. This brings us to the end of my knowledge concerning belts and pulleys on an Atlas mill.

size of belts and and age for atlas lathe?

Age is a tough matter with Atlas machines. The serial numbers aren't coded at Clausing doesn't seem to keep historical records on them like they do for actual Clausings. I'd have to look in the basement to be sure, but the belts are both 4L section, I believe 39" and 42". Any parts store or supplier should have them.

I made a vertical head that would clamp to the top bar and had a v-belt that would run from a pulley on the main arbor spindle over two idler pulleys 90 degrees to the top of the vertical head. worked quite well. New for 1941 was a neat, built-on all-V-belt countershaft with an integral motor mount. The inclusion of a 6.5 : 1 ratio "backgear" meant that a total of 16 speeds were available of: 62, 130, 212, 440, 450, 870, 1400 and 2870 rpm. - a very useful range, especially the slow speeds which, being gear-driven, could transmit lots of torque and enabled remarkably heavy cuts to be taken.

Several years ago, I ran a survey asking for industry belt numbers for all of the atlas lathes. Unfortunately, I did not record how many "votes" each of the belt sizes that I ended up with got. The 6" belt numbers that I received were 3L350 for the spindle and 3L210 for the motor. And 2L290 for the Mk2 (which only has one belt).

The MK2 6", Atlas Model Number 3950, Craftsman 101.21200 has, ball bearings on the spindle and is an 8-speed machine. It only has one belt and there is no good reason to install a link belt (if they make them that narrow). It is mostly unrelated to the 618, although it did use a few 618 parts (bed casting and compound).
