Finally, unlike the standard Harbor Freight/Grizzly model, the table comes with 20TPI lead screws. Even though $340 price tag almost doubles the mini mill price (mine was $500 shipped), the expenditure will make the mill much more versatile.

First I bought mini lathe form Homier online store. It was one of many variation of Sieg 7x12 machines. Few years later I got Mini Mill from Harbor Freight - a variation of Sieg X2 mill. These two machines are very good when tuned well. I was able to achieve the precision of 0.001inch what is enough for my needs.

The lower area is 36 inches high while the mill mounting is 40 inches. NOTE: It appears that Homier has discontinued this mini-mill.

My mill now has a fully functioning 2 axis DRO. Machining the brackets for the Y axis gave me my first experience using the X axis DRO. It was wonderful! The only problem was when I had to move the Y axis I still had to look at dial graduations and count turns of the handle. I have also mounted the backing plate for the Z axis scale.

The4991 comes with R8 arbor and drill chuck. You need R8 coletts or mill holders to do milling.
